Rui Monteiro

Biografia

Rui Manuel Ribeiro Monteiro was born in 1976, in Vila Nova de Gaia, Porto, son of Manuel Monteiro and Maria Ribeiro. He completed a professional course as an Accounting and Business Technician in 1996, going on to work, in 1997, at Universo Banco Directo (SONAE Group).

In 1998, he began to work at Porto Derivatives Exchange (now, Euronext Lisbon) and continued his career on the capital markets as a Stock Trader, and, later, as a Project Manager and as an Account Manager in investment banks and asset management/ brokers’ firms until 2005 (Banco Finibanco and Banco Carregosa, Golden Assets).

Between 2005 and 2008, he returned to the Euronext Group (Interbolsa). After that, he worked as an Independent Business Consultant in the capital markets sector until 2014, and, from 2015 to 2019, in an international Portuguese group (CJR Renewables), first as a regional CFO for Europe and Asia and, later, as a Senior Investment Officer.

In 2008, he did a Preparation and Evaluation Course for those Over 23 Years Old at the University of Minho and went on to obtain a Bachelor’s Degree in International Relations at the School of Economics and Management, having graduated in 2011. In 2013, he concluded his Master’s Degree in International Economics and Business at the School of Economics and Management of the University of Porto (FEP), and in 2023 the Doctoral Programme in Business and Management Studies (specialization in Marketing and Strategy).

He is a Guest Assistant since 2017 at the School of Engineering - Polytechnic of Porto (ISEP), and since 2018 at the Portuguese Institute of Marketing Administration (IPAM). In 2019 he was also a Guest Assistant at FEP. He is the author of various scientific articles and has participated in several international conferences. Since 2020, he is the Director of the Municipal Department of Economics at the Porto City Council.

Rui Monteiro lives in Porto and is proud father of two sons.
