Study shows the event's contribution to the development of the Leiria region.

The economic impact of the Allianz Cup Final Four, held in Leiria between January 7 and 11, 2025, was assessed in a study conducted by IPAM's Sports Marketing Studies Office. The analysis revealed that the event generated around 16 million euros, reinforcing its relevance to the local and national economy.

The scientific methodology, adapted and developed by IPAM from UKSport's “Economic Forecasting Model”, examined the financial effects in areas such as ticket sales, tourism and media consumption, segmenting six key moments of the event: preparation, training, match, decompression, return and aftermath.

“Sport, regardless of its format and size, is an engine of economic and social impact. From schools to the stages of major international competitions, sporting events have the ability to mobilize the masses and boost the economy and social development by increasing revenue in the surrounding sectors, such as tourism, catering or even trade. This 18th edition of the Allianz Cup reflects soccer's ability to generate revenue for sectors outside the sports industry and boost local economies,” said Daniel Sá, IPAM's Executive Director.

Among the teams' entourage, journalists, competition support staff, guests, TV production crews and refereeing teams, more than 1,100 people were involved in the Allianz Cup Final Four and more than 60,000 spectators in the stadium during the three matches.

As well as highlighting the financial impact of the Allianz Cup Final Four, Liga Portugal and IPAM point out that the event contributed to the promotion of tourism and hospitality in Leiria, consolidating the region as a destination for large-scale events, and proved that sport can be a lever for economic and social development in the country.
